To call him a dog hardly seems to do him justice, though inasmuch as he
had four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit he was, to all outward
appearances. But to those of us who knew him well, he was a perfect
gentleman.~p.317. ('The World is Square, pt. II by Hermione Gingold 1897 -

Donating Books
If you have books to donate the number to call is 634-1390 to set up a time. Past sales have
determined that there are some books that we simply cannot accept either due to surplus or
they simply don't sell. A list follows. Some of the books that are donated are set aside to go
into our Internet auction which has been very successful as it allows us to reach a wide
audience. There again, experience is the great teacher as we get a feel for what people out
there in cyberspace are looking for.
These are the books that we CAN'T take:
Reader's Digest Condensed Books
Harlequin, Silhouette and the like romance books
Sets of encyclopedias
School textbooks including college
Pornography
Any books that are damp, mildewed or musty smelling to any degree are a health hazard
and are impossible to clean, sell or even endure inside the building. Sadly, they are ruined
forever.
This is Shatzi
Shatzi and her new family
Wouldn't this make the perfect Christmas card or poster? This the sort of thing that makes
the efforts of Northwoods Humane Society so rewarding. When a family takes the time to
send us an update on one of our rescued animals it can make the day feel like a breeze to
everyone who works so hard at the shelter. Families, who open their hearts to a dog who
may have spent it's early years tied to a doghouse of worse, are as much a part of the
shelter as the crew who works there. Without them we'd never get to enjoy pictures like this.
And dogs like Shatzi would never have a chance to realize their full potential as loving
companions.
A huge THANK YOU to all our adopting families!
